Dubai, UAE 29 February 2008: Al Ghurair City, the region's first shopping mall, enjoyed a surge in footfall and sales over the previous year during the just concluded Dubai Shopping Festival 2008.
Al Ghurair City hosted an exciting and colourful programme of events and activities during the Dubai Shopping Festival, offering great prizes along with special deals from local and leading international brands, plus entertainment for the entire family.
Mukta Sabharwal, Events & PR Coordinator, Al Ghurair City said: “In its 13th year, DSF once again put Dubai on the global map as a year-round shopping destination. And, as a key sponsor of the festival, Al Ghurair City is proud to have supported this Dubai government-driven initiative. As in the previous years, this year we put together a well balanced combination of world-class shopping, interactive competitions and exciting promotions. We are overwhelmed by the great response that we received towards the promotions and contests at Al Ghurair City during DSF 2008. As a result of this, Al Ghurair City recorded a 30 percent increase in visitor numbers that had a positive impact on sales over the same period last year”.
During DSF, Al Ghurair City ran an exciting mall promotion that gave shoppers the chance to win a BMW X5 series car and a trip for two to an exotic destination of one’s choice in Africa.
As part of its DSF celebrations, Al Ghurair City also ran a specially conceived competition that allowed shoppers to submit photographs they had of their most memorable holiday experience. The winning photograph entitles the bearer of the photograph to win a holiday to the same destination featured in the picture.
In addition, Al Ghurair City also arranged a range of entertainment that paid homage to the deep rooted culture and traditions of the region. Visitors to the mall were able to experience Arabic theme events, such as local dance troupes like Al Harbeya and Al Ayala, In addition, a kahwa server also offered kahwa and Baqlawa to shoppers, a tradition when welcoming guests into a home, while other activities showcased the local tradition, culture and hospitality of the UAE.
